Unlocking Leadership Potential: A Recap of the 4th Presidential Youth Mentorship Retreat

Mentorship, the guiding force behind nurturing youth leadership capabilities, took center stage at the Youth Development Centre, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, during the fourth edition of the distinguished Presidential Youth Mentorship Retreat. Themed “Contribution to Green Economy,” this landmark event unfolded from November 5 to 8, 2023, leaving an indelible mark on the journey of nearly 60 carefully selected participants.

From the anticipation that preceded the retreat to the vibrant activities that unfolded, every moment resonated with purpose and excitement. The Welcome Dinner on November 5 wasn’t merely a culinary experience; it marked the commencement of a transformative journey, providing participants with the opportunity to connect, network, and share in the wisdom of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

Capturing the essence of the retreat, visual stories unfolded through pictures showcasing early morning exercises, the impactful opening ceremony, and the interactive mentoring session led by President Obasanjo. Delegates explored the cultural richness of the city, visiting landmarks like Olumo Rock and Adire Mall, immersing themselves in the local tapestry.

Evenings were a symphony of team activities, Karaoke, and thought-provoking presentations, reflecting the diverse talents among the participants.

The third day was a crescendo of activities, featuring a Walk, a compelling Youth Governance Dialogue, and an enlightening visit to Òwìwí Farms and Soilless Farm Labs.

The grand finale, Africa Night, was a celebration of cultural diversity. Delegates showcased their heritage through native languages, and the event culminated in a mesmerizing cultural dance performance by the Ẹgba Cultural Troupe. The night concluded with the presentation of certificates and awards, acknowledging the accomplishments of the 58 new mentees.

In retrospect, the 4th Presidential Youth Mentorship Retreat was more than an event; it was a transformative experience. As we congratulate the new mentees, we look forward to the enduring impact they will make on the leadership landscape.
