Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects millions of people around the world. It can be challenging to cope with, especially for young people who may feel isolated and different from their peers. But diabetes is not a death sentence, and with proper management and care, it can be a part of a fulfilling and happy life.

That is why the Talabi Diabetes Centre, in collaboration with several other organizations, including the Youth Development Centre organized a 4-day youth camp on diabetes from the 20th to 23rd of August 2023. The camp was the third of its kind and hosted 40 young participants who had diabetes or were at risk of developing it. The camp aimed to educate and empower them on how to take charge of their health and well-being.

The participants received lectures and sensitizations on various aspects of diabetes, such as its causes, symptoms, complications, prevention, treatment, and nutrition. They also learned about the importance of physical activity, mental health, self-care, and peer support. They engaged in fun and interactive activities that boosted their confidence and skills. They made new friends and shared their experiences and challenges with each other. They left the camp with a renewed sense of hope and optimism for their future.
