Free Video Editing Workshop

The Youth Development Centre, in collaboration with Abeokuta Window on America and The Edit Space Africa, hosted a 3-day workshop on the fundamentals of Professional Video Editing. The workshop, which aimed to empower young people in Ogun State with the required skills to become professional video editors, also served as a commemoration of the 2023 World Youth Skills Day and took place from 28th to 30th of July.

To open the event, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo gave a welcome address that serves as one of the keynote events of the workshop, he added that Nigerian Youths should ensure that they are digitally inclined and that they acquire other skills required to excel in the 21st century.

A total of 75 young people participated in the workshop, which covered different sessions such as Video editing with Capcut for mobile phone users, led by Mr. Taiwo Adeshina, and training in Adobe Premier Pro for laptop users, led by Mr. Ayodeji Ayokunle. The final day of the workshop featured a question and answer segment, where Mr. Martini Akande, a renowned film editor, and Mr. Seyi Olubunmi, the director of The Edit Space Africa, shared their insights and experiences in the film industry and answered the queries of the participants. The participants also had the opportunity to present videos of their own making, demonstrating their creativity and skills.

The workshop was a huge success, as it inspired and equipped the young video editors with the tools and techniques to pursue their passion and career. Below are some more pictures taken at the workshop.
